Inspired by the Chinese character Wang Lung in Pearl S. Buck's novel, The Good Earth. Here Wang Lung is torn between his duties in an agrarian feudal society and his desire for Lotus, the foot bound prostitute, O-Lan. The Good Earth was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1938. This dance for camera was choreographed by Aly Rose and performed by Hu Lei, Zhang Disha, Li Meng, Yu Yanan, and Aly Rose
